Walter Stanley Cackowski

CACKOWSKI, Walter Stanley – Formerly of Smithville, NJ age 88, passed away on October 30th 2017. Wally was born on July 28, 1929 in Jersey City NJ to Stanley and Mary Cackowski.  Wally found the love of his life, Pat Butler Cackowski and married her on June 16, 1956. Wally and Pat eventually moved to Carteret, where they raised their six children. Wally and Pat retired to Four Seasons at Smithville where they lived many happy years traveling and making new friends. Wally and Pat were married 59 years.

 

Wally served in the Korean War having proudly served his country with the US Navy. He was predeceased by his wife Pat and daughter Karen (Thomas) Grace. Wally is survived by sons Walter (Dianna) and Michael (Kelly), daughters, Diane Wood, Linda (Billy) Maher and Susan (Kelli) Cackowski. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen (Thomas) Grace. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Thomas, Lauren (Steve), Troy, Lance, Michael (Nicole), Danielle (Michael), Amelia, Kenny, Colin, Brian and six great grandchildren, Jada, Juliana, Michael, Anthony, Joseph and Lillian.

 

Wally was a gentle soul, a wonderful father, an accomplished athlete in his youth. When his children were young he enjoyed coaching them and going to their many sporting events. He was a passionate gardener and golfer. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 4, at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Absecon. Interment will be private.
