Barbara Jean (Wolford) Smith resident of Henry Ford Village, Dearborn, Michigan , passed away on November 14, 2017 after a long battle with dementia.

Barbara was born in Trenton, PA on April 11, 1935 to Evelyn and Glen Wolford.  She graduated from Parma High School, Parma, Ohio, and continued her education at the College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio, where she earned a teaching degree and a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  At Wooster she met James F. Smith whom she married on June 8, 1957.  They were married 60 years and had three children.

Barbara worked as a High School science teacher at Elyria, Ohio, and Livonia, Michigan, public schools. She also worked as a chemical lab technician at Mortell/Dow Chemical for over 20 years. She enjoyed time spent with the family traveling and camping.

Barbara is survived by:  husband, James F. Smith, children, David J. Smith, Carol A. (Smith) Saksa and Mark A. Smith, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Not to mention several four legged family members over the years. Barb is preceded in death by brother James G. Wolford, and parents, Evelynn and Joseph Glen Wolford.

The memorial service will be held at Henry Ford Village Chapel, 15091 Ford Road, Dearborn, MI, on Saturday, November 18th at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Barbara W Smith's name to the Dementia Society of America.
